An afternoon in spring

As typical with spring weather, some days are sunny, some days are drizzly, and some days are cold and grey. The weather can't seem to make up its mind, but at least it gave us a sunny weekend of 10-15 degree warmth, which we took advantage the other day in Marcus' godparents' garden. After a round of garden badminton (which didn't go well because the winds were too strong), we arranged our own mattress on the grass:

We would have certainly froze without the blanket, but the sun was pleasantly bright and the sky was blue and featureless. We caught sight of two hare chasing each other in the field behind the house, and the apple tree behind us was frequented by hawfinches (in Swedish, stenknäck). Soon, birds that have travelled from as far away as Africa will have found their way to the same tree. The grass around us was bright green in the slanted afternoon sun. The colorful flowers that were growing in the garden, however, were eaten the night before by trespassing deer. Lying down there on the grass made me feel that I too was an animal out in nature. I curled up, fell asleep, and had a dreamless nap.
